Paramaribo Advisory
Paramaribo Advisory is an intelligence and consultancy firm based in Suriname. The firm exists because Suriname is entering one of the most consequential decades in its history.
Most intelligence on frontier markets is produced from the outside. Paramaribo Advisory is different: built from inside Paramaribo, with a government and policy background, consulting experience, and an on-the-ground network.
The firm operates two products: the Paramaribo Briefing, an exclusive daily English-language intelligence briefing published Monday through Saturday and tailored made for our clients; and a hands-on advisory practice covering market entry, political risk, regulatory navigation, and stakeholder mapping.
The team
Rick Jan Molanus founded Paramaribo Advisory because he wanted to be at the forefront of Suriname’s transition.

He has lived and worked across three continents. In Côte d’Ivoire, he worked for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In Guyana, he served the European Union Delegation. In Suriname, he conducted policy and market analysis for TotalEnergies, supporting the company’s energy operations in the region.
At both TotalEnergies and the EU Delegation, he was responsible for daily political and economic intelligence reporting for headquarters and regional teams, the same discipline that now sits at the core of the Paramaribo Briefing. He later served at IOM – UN Migration in The Hague.
